EU projects

KZN RAIL has been involved in the research and development works carried out at the KZN Bieżanów Group from the very beginning. Innovative projects are implemented based on external financial support, especially grants under development programs co-financed by the European Union.

Taking the advantage of the practical knowledge of our staff, gained every day at railway and tramway infrastructure construction sites, our holding develops in particular those innovative solutions that allow to shorten construction operations, increase the initial quality of the permanent way elements, extend their durability, reliability and facilitate maintenance processes.

 

Current projects

1. Innovative technology for the production, logistics, installation and maintenance of prefabricated tram turnouts in blocks.

 

Research and development project implemented by a consortium of KZN Rail and Kolejowe Zakłady Nawierzchniowe “Bieżanów”. The anticipated effects of the project include: high-quality prefabrication of key elements of tram track systems, a radical reduction in construction time also thanks to comprehensive logistics, and the ability to efficiently replace worn-out permanent way.
Total project value: PLN 8,607,518.35; whereby the amount of funding from the European Regional Development Fund is: PLN 3,443,026.34 Assumed project execution period: 2 January 2022 – 31 December 2023

 

 

 

Smart Growth Operational Program 2014–2020 co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Intelligent Development Program 2014–2020. The project is being carried out as part of a competition held by the National Center for Research and Development entitled: Fast Track (Competition 2/1.1.1/2021).

2. Innovative technology for transporting and longitudinal unloading of turnouts in blocks, aimed at developing technology that allows the safe and quick transport and unloading of turnouts in blocks on one-track lines.

A scientific and research project executed by a consortium of KZN Rail and Kolejowe Zakłady Nawierzchniowe “Bieżanów”. The assumed effects of the project are improved safety during the transport and unloading of turnouts, a significant acceleration of turnouts transport and thus a reduction in costs, and the allowing for unloading turnouts without using adjacent tracks. The total value of the project amounts to PLN 12,423,082.93, of which PLN 5,011,357.85 is co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund.
