“Alteration of the tram infrastructure along Bytomska Street in Zabrze from Zamkowa Street to Szyb Franciszek Street, together with the Biskupice terminus and turnouts” – task 6.2
The alteration covered 2268 meters of single track. As part of it, we performed a comprehensive replacement of the structure, i.e. cement-stabilized soil, substructure layers and track grid. Although the line is mostly operated using classic technology, 333 meters of single track runs in prefabricated road and track slabs in the ERS flexible rail fixing system. A total of 8 turnouts have been installed, 3 of them on wooden turnout sleepers, the other 5 on concrete slabs using point grout technology. A switch control and heating system and a lubrication system were installed. On Ziemska Street, an asphalt overlay was executed to adjust the elevations of the existing roadway to the designed line, while at the intersections of the railroad with individual exits, ramps were paved to ensure safe crossing of the track. A drainage system for the entire section undergoing alteration was also executed. Moreover, proper tram traffic is also possible due to the replacement of the catenary with poles, alteration of the catenary cables power supply and repair of the viaduct over the former railway line.
The task was performed from 22 May 2020 to 19 August 2021 and its value amounted to PLN 16.9 million net.
