The Tram Service Station in Nowa Huta was officially handed over for operation in January 2022, while the first works on site began in 2015. The construction was divided into stages, and the entire modernization cost more than PLN 134 million. 

As part of the alteration of the Tram Service Station, the station’s track system was rebuilt and buildings necessary for the operation of the tram depot were constructed. 

We performed the following works for the Budimex, the General Contractor: 

  • Demolition of existing permanent way 

  • Installation of permanent way with and without ballast 

  • Installation of turnouts on wooden switch sleepers and on concrete slabs 

  • Installation of adjustable locks 

  • Installation of drains 

  • Installation of lubricators 

 

At the beginning of 2016, we installed two sets of turnouts and carried out associated works under the first contract. 

As part of another order from August to December 2016 we installed four sets of turnouts and constructed 560 meters of single track, of which 218 meters of single track were located in the daily service hall. 

The next stage of the expansion involved the alteration of Gate no. 1. Between September and December 2017, we installed three sets of double-track turnouts and 160 meters of single track. 

In the years 2018–2021, we altered the parking track system at the Tram Service Station: 

Stage I – installation of nine sets of turnouts and construction of 883 meters of single track 
Stage II – installation of six sets of turnouts and construction of 850 meters of single track 
Stage III – installation of seven sets of turnouts and construction of 887 meters of single track 
Stage IV – installation of 21 sets of turnouts, four sets of diamond crossings, and construction of 1700 meters of single track, where 453 meters of single track were located in the new hall in the canals and on the flyover. 

From June to December 2020, as part of the expansion of Gate no. 2, we installed 30 turnouts, two crossings, built 762 meters of single track and installed four sets of lubricators. 

The last stage of the works we carried out at the Tram Service Station was the construction of a shelter with side tracks for tram cars. As part of this task, the first harps turnout in Kraków was constructed at the depot, two turnouts were installed, and 570 meters of single track were constructed.
