As part of the project entitled “Modernisation of the track crossing within the tramway track system at the intersection of Powstańców Śląskich Street and Jastrzębia Street, including an option right, under the design-and-build contract”, we completed the construction of a double-track crossing on Jastrzębia Street in Wrocław, featuring an integrated rail surface and track-to-track area.
The works were completed in just one weekend using PWP gantry systems and prestressed concrete slabs manufactured in CONTRACK technology.
The key to such a fast construction process was the high degree of prefabrication. Large-format slabs were delivered to the construction site with the rails already installed and grouted with sealing compound. Integrating the rail surface and track during the manufacturing stage significantly reduced the construction time and enabled the immediate installation of ready-to-use elements.
Key project parameters:
- Scope of works: 25 metres of full double-track crossing construction
- Elements used: 2 sets of prefabricated prestressed concrete slabs with integrated rails and track-to-track area (lengths: 6 m, 13 m and 6 m)
- Equipment: Two PWP gantry systems
