KZN Rail with FPC certificate and National Technical Assessment for pre-fabricated slab

Pre-fabricated slabs for road surface integrated with tram tracks manufactured by KZN Rail have received a National Technical Assessment (Krajowa Ocena Techniczna, KOT) and a national certificate of conformity for Factory Production Control (FPC) in the 2+ system. These are the documents necessary for the serial production and marketing of prefabricated slabs for tramway switches and entire junctions, dedicated crossings or unusual curves.

Both documents, which are necessary for the proper marketing of the construction product, were obtained mainly under the procedures developed and experience gained in the course of production and installation of the first prototype prefabricated tram turnout with ZT-116-3200 R50 switch in the Tramwaje Śląskie network. “We have created a systematized set of procedures and instructions for the production of prefabricated slabs for road surface integrated with tram tracks, aimed at ensuring the repeatability of the construction product manufacture. The process of controlling the quality and conformity of performance properties of the produced pre-fabricated slabs is now based on the national Factory Production Control certificate, confirmed by the Railway Institute,” emphasizes A M-U, responsible at KZN Rail for the certification process. “On the other hand, the National Technical Assessment, which we have also obtained, is nothing more than a positive verification of the performance characteristics of our pre-fabricated reinforced concrete slabs, which are intended to help fulfil basic requirements of the construction facilities in which the slabs will be used.

As a reminder, the pre-fabricated slabs produced by KZN Rail, together with track system components produced by parent company KZN Bieżanów, are used in the CONTRACK project that entails production, logistics, development and maintenance of prefabricated tramway switches and entire junctions, dedicated crossings or unusual curves.
