Przemyśl Bakończyce

The consortium of KZN Rail Sp. z o.o. and Wadoma W. Małkowiak, W. Bodziony spółka komandytowa is carrying out the project entitled “Alteration of the Przemyśl Bakończyce railway siding, together with the design and execution of works in the power industry and SR” with a value of nearly PLN 340 million, which aims at comprehensive modernization of railway infrastructure.

As part of the project:
✅We are building rail vehicle technical facilities with a year-round washing facility and administrative rooms with a total cubic capacity of nearly 80,000 m³ along with comprehensive equipment, including stations for pressure testing, laser measurement of wheel flanges, an underfloor wheel lathe
✅We are erecting a control room building with a volume of over 2,000 m³
✅We are executing approximately 6 km of new tracks and 29 turnouts
✅We are modernizing telecommunications and power facilities
✅We are building accompanying infrastructure, such as a fuel station; wagon chassis ice protection system; stationary depot heating systems; technological compressed air and electricity supply systems
✅We will build, in the “design and build” formula, a transformer-rectifier station, as well as an all-encompassing system of control command and signaling equipment incorporated into the new control room.

Current works progress:
– Intermediate foundation works for the hall, process tanks and rectifier building
– Execution of a pulling plate for the culvert at km 2,378
– Continued construction of M1 and M3 retaining walls
– Installation of foundation piles for catenary poles
– Electrical, telecommunications and sanitary works
– Earthworks, ground reinforcement and installation of tracks and turnouts
– Demolition of the existing administrative and workshop building has begun

The general contractor is providing PKP Intercity employees with a temporary “container town” for the duration of the siding modernization, allowing for uninterrupted operation of the existing technical facilities for rolling stock operation.

Thanks to the upgrade, the siding will handle more trainsets, optimize route preparation time and improve work comfort.
